Brown & Brown Appoints Jay Weber as National Head of Small Business

New national leadership role supports continued investment and growth in the small business segment

CHARLOTTE, NC, Sept. 22, 2026 -- Brown & Brown today announced the appointment of Jay Weber as National Head of Small Business, a newly established leadership role within its Retail segment that looks to advance the firm’s small business strategy and capabilities across the United States.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Weber will lead the strategy, growth and continued modernization of Brown & Brown’s small commercial ecosystem, with a focus on creating a more unified approach across the organization, strengthening carrier relationships and identifying new ways to serve small business customers. Weber will lead the development of innovative distribution pathways that expand access, improve customer experience, and accelerate profitable growth.

“Small businesses are a critical part of the communities we serve, and we see significant opportunity to grow alongside them,” said Jessica Getman, Senior Managing Director, Retail, Brown & Brown. “Jay understands this market and brings the combination of insurance, distribution and operational experience needed to help us build on the strong work already happening across Brown & Brown. He is well known for building scalable business models, elevating team performance, and driving transformation. His appointment is an important step in bringing greater focus and coordination to how we serve the small business segment.”

Weber brings more than two decades of property and casualty insurance experience spanning underwriting, product strategy, distribution and P&L leadership. Prior to joining Brown & Brown, he led Berkley Southeast Insurance Group, a regional commercial insurance business with multi-state responsibilities, where he improved underwriting results, strengthened agency relationships, and advanced digital and operational modernization initiatives. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles overseeing commercial insurance divisions and national product strategy at Chubb, The Hartford, and Travelers.

“Small businesses need an insurance advisor that understands the realities of running and growing a business and who can make it easier to access the right solutions,” said Weber. “Brown & Brown has tremendous capabilities across the organization, including the right combination of specialized knowledge, experience, strong carrier relationships, and talented teams. I’m excited to bring those strengths together and build on them as we grow.”

“Jay’s appointment reflects our continued commitment to investing in talented leaders who understand both the insurance marketplace and the needs of our customers,” said Steve Hearn, president, Brown & Brown Retail. “We see meaningful opportunity in the small business segment, and Jay will play an important role in helping us build on the great work our teams are already doing for customers across the country.”
